American funds support Ukraine's reconstruction with modular bridges for war-battered regions

The first modular bridges donated by American funds arrived in Ukraine.

The State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine reports on Facebook that they will be installed in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions in Ukraine's northeast and south, battered by Russian shelling.

"The non-profit foundation The Conflict and Development Foundation (CDF) and the Howard Buffett Foundation are helping the Reconstruction Agency to improve the logistics of the country's priority roads by installing modular structures in place of bridges destroyed by war," the statement reads.

The first modular bridges have already arrived in Ukraine. The Agency's priority is to install them in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions because, in the front-line areas, people's livelihood depends primarily on roads.

"The destruction of bridges leads to the disconnection of communities from basic services. It's essential for us to restore logistics as quickly as possible so that people have access to medical care, rescuers, communal services, etc., can reach them," said the Head of the Reconstruction Agency, Mustafa Naiem.

The structures arrive in Ukraine in disassembled form, but they're easy to install and can be used repeatedly. The bridges are immediately covered with an asphalt concrete coating at the production site.

The Agency also stated that these modular bridges can withstand the traffic of cars and trucks and will help quickly restore uninterrupted traffic in the areas most affected by the war.
