Bridge between Kherson and Crimea closed to cars after explosion – Melitopol's mayor
The Chongar road bridge is closed to all passenger vehicles, requiring re–routing to the "Armiansk" Checkpoint, accessible via an inadequate road. At the same time, individuals are subjected to extended four-day filtering processes on the Russian-Latvian border.
The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, stated this on the air of the national telethon "Yedyni Novyni," reports Ukrinform.
"After the explosion on the bridge on Chongar, it is completely closed to passenger traffic. Some military trucks can drive on it. Others – today they are sent to Armiansk on a detour (Armiansk checkpoint – ed.). But the road from Simferopol to Armiansk is extremely dirty, and residents find it difficult to get there," Fedorov said.
There is a massive queue at the checkpoint in Armiansk. According to him, this transition was essential for evacuation from the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
"Today, Chongar bridge is not working, and Armiansk checkpoint is not working well. There are a large number of people on the borders between Russia and Latvia. Residents stand at the crossing points for four days. So it is almost impossible to evacuate," the mayor added.

Earlier, it was reported that invaders are tearing up Ukrainian passports at checkpoints in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.
