Students of Ukraine’s Junior Academy of Sciences win 35 awards at GENIUS Olympiad in US

Ukrainian students of the Junior Academy of Sciences won 35 awards at the GENIUS Olympiad in the United States.

The Ministry of Education and Science reported this.

"Today, the largest Ukrainian delegation of GENIUS Olympiad participants returned to Kyiv from the USA. 47 Junior Academy of Sciences students presented Ukraine at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York State. In total, the Ukrainian delegation brought 35 awards. Among the winners were 14 participants with an Honorable Mention, 9 participants with bronze medals, 7 with silver medals, and 5 with gold medals," the message reads.

"Your participation in the Olympiad of Geniuses is also about contributing to our country's victory. After all, you not only presented your projects but also represented Ukraine on the international stage. You showed us to the world as a state with powerful intellectual potential. Despite the challenges of the war and strong psychological pressure, you continued to do your work. I am sure that you will also be able to build a country where you will want to live," the Minister of Education, Oksen Lisovyi, addressed the competition participants.

Gold medals at the GENIUS Olympiad were won by:

The jury of the competition honored Victoria Zaliska, Victoria Kravchenko, Nadiya Lysenko, Alisa Lomakina, Andriy Mavrin, Bohdan Minka, Mykhailo Mutsky, Daria Panayotova, Maria Sirska, Karina Soloshchenko, Diana Khmelyuk, Maria Chepil, Pavlo Shekhet, and Mark Yurchenko with honorary awards.

GENIUS Olympiad is an international competition for environmental projects, which takes place every year in the USA and gathers more than 1,500 participants from 60 countries. In 2021, the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was the first in the world to receive a license to hold the national stage of this event in Ukraine. This year, 700 projects from all over Ukraine participated in the national selection.

For the first time in history, the Ukrainian national soccer team won the silver medal at the World Championship. The competition was held from June 2 to 11 in the German city of Essen.

First Lady Olena Zelenska was honored with the award for "Leadership in the field of health care and human rights" for her efforts toward safeguarding the mental health of Ukrainians.
