Ukraine's Ecological Inspectorate estimated that damage from the deaths of animals equals $24 million, but these figures are not final.

The destruction of the Kakhovka dam could lead to massive wildlife deaths, as the Russians committed the crime during the breeding season, says Ukraine's ecology minister Ruslan Strilets.

During war, wild animals suffer no less than people. Those who managed to escape during the disaster are left homeless. The Russians committed a crime during the season of mass breeding. Many animals did not have time to be born, but are already deprived of a chance to live, Strilets said.

Horses, fallow deer, deer, wild boars, roe deer, muskrats, beavers, foxes, hares, and birds could have died from the Russians' explosion of the Kakhovka plant.

Russia's terrorism act has put 30% of the Kherson region's nature reserve fund at risk.

The State Ecological Inspectorate continues to calculate possible losses.

Using the example of the Russian war in Ukraine, the world should understand once and for all what Russia is. The invaders do not come to set their own rules. They come to destroy and kill all living things without exception, Strilets summed up.

Over 160,000 birds and 20,000 wild animals were at risk of death due to the Russians blowing up the dam.
