On June 18, the Russian invaders attacked the Sumy region's border. Two civilians were killed as a result of the shelling.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on Telegram.

"Today, civilians – a father and a son – died as a result of artillery shelling in the city of Bilopillia'," the message reads.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration stated that detailed information would be provided additionally.

For reference:

The Sumy region borders the Russian Federation, so the occupiers tried to capture the region's territory from the first days of the full-scale invasion. However, the Ukrainian military returned all captured parts to Ukrainian control in the spring of last year.

After the withdrawal of Russian troops from the region's territory, the occupiers continue daily shelling of the border area. Every day, the Russian military bombards the area with mortars and artillery.

It should be noted that on June 2, the Sumy region was shelled by the Russian invaders. Victims were reported due to the shelling.

In addition, on June 13, the Russian invaders carried out 21 attacks on the border territory of the Sumy region: 101 explosions were recorded in the region, and six employees of the State Forestry Service were killed as a result of the enemy attack.

Due to increased shelling from the Russian side, the authorities of the Sumy region announced the evacuation of residents from the border communities of the Okhtyrka district.
