UK Defense Intelligence has reported that fierce fighting has been going on in recent days, with both Ukraine and Russia suffering significant losses.
The fighting is ongoing in three directions, with Ukraine's initiative on its hands.
The most intense hostilities are currently taking place in the Zaporizhzhia region, in the west of the Donetsk region, and the area in and around the city of Bakhmut.
Ukraine has been carrying out offensive operations in all of these areas and has made minor gains, the UK MoD added.
The report also notes that Russian occupying forces often conduct quite effective defensive operations.
In the south, Russian forces often conduct relatively effective defensive operations. Both sides are suffering high casualties, with Russian losses likely the highest since the peak of the battle for Bakhmut in March, the UK Defense Intelligence stated.

Earlier, the UK defense ministry reported that Russian forces had gained air superiority in the Ukrainian south, as additional attack helicopters had been deployed there since Ukraine's offensive actions began.
In turn, Ukrainian troops have already destroyed more than 300 military helicopters of the occupying country since the beginning of the war.
Over the past day, June 17, the Ukrainian forces eliminated more than 600 invaders. In total, since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the invaders have lost almost 220,000 soldiers.
