Ukrainian forces show initiative on battlefield but require 200 km range missiles – defense ministry

Ukraine is showing initiative in the war, while Russia chooses a defensive strategy.

To gain victory, Ukraine needs long-range high-precision weapons with a range of up to 200 kilometers, the country's Deputy defense minister Volodymyr Havrylov said.

"Ukraine needs weapons with a range of up to 200 kilometers. 

We are implementing all our military plans in line with our estimates. The main thing in modern warfare is to have situational awareness to know the enemy's situation and to be able to deliver precision strikes over long distances.

In other words, to have a weapon capable of hitting the enemy at a range of up to 200 kilometers." he said.

He noted that Ukraine is on the way to getting aircraft that will defend its skies from Russian missiles.

More than a year of war has passed and we are confident that we will defeat the Russian invaders, together with our partners who provide us with everything we need, Havrylov summed up.

Ukraine's deputy defense minister Hanna Maliar reported that in the south, the troops of Ukrainian forces are conducting active offensive actions in several directions at once.

They have partial success, although they operate in conditions of aviation and artillery superiority of the Russian invaders. Gradually moving forward – as of now, up to 2 kilometers in each direction.
