US sends additional $205 mln in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

The US announced it is providing $205 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine as part of its support for those affected by the consequences of Russia's full-scale war.

Since February 2022, the United States has provided more than $2.1 billion in humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine, both inside Ukraine and in the region.

As the US Department of State stated, humanitarian assistance provides the people of Ukraine with critical support, including food, safe drinking water, protection services, education, livelihoods, legal assistance, accessible shelter, health care, and more through our international and non-governmental partners in the region.

These funds also help victims of the conflict maintain contact with family members who have been separated and promotes family reunification when possible, added the State Department.

Total humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine has exceeded $605 million. The US provides additional support to humanitarian organizations responding to the crisis and helps countries host and support refugees.

According to US data, more than six million Ukrainians have left the country, and more than five million have become internally displaced persons within Ukraine.

Recently the US announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It will include weapons and equipment worth 325 million dollars.
