Kryvyi Rih declares day of mourning after ten killed in Russian rocket attack

The death toll rose to ten civilians after the Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's central Dnipropetrovsk region. 28 people are also known to have received various injuries. 

Rubryka reports, citing the head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, that June 14 was declared a day of mourning in the city.

"As of 1:00 p.m., ten people have died, one is under the rubble, 28 are injured, and 12 are in the city's hospitals in medium, serious, and severe condition. The rescue operation is ongoing," he said.

Russian invaders struck a 5-story building in Kryvyi Rih, causing its destruction and a severe fire. It was initially reported that 25 civilians were injured, and six were killed. Authorities said there may be people under the rubble.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported ten cruise missiles and one attack drone destroyed by the air defense.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine also added that in the morning, the Russian invaders launched a repeated attack from the Caspian Sea with three Tu-95ms.

"According to initial data, only one cruise missile reached Ukraine this time, which was destroyed by Ukrainian air defense!" the military said.

Background

On the night of June 13, the Russians again shelled Ukrainian cities. Monitoring groups reported the launch of Shahed-type UAVs and missiles from the Caspian Sea.

There were also explosions reported in Kyiv. Russian missiles were shot down in the airspace near the capital. As Serhii Popko, the head of Kyiv city administration, said, Ukrainian defenders shot down all targets on the approaches to the capital.

During a night attack on June 13, Russian troops fired kamikaze drones at civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv.
