"Putin might be waiting for US elections" before beginning Russia-Ukraine negotiations – Borrell
Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to peace talks to end the war against Ukraine because he is waiting for the elections in the USA.
The head of the EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated this in an interview with Onda Cero.
According to a top European diplomat, the leader of the Russian Federation is waiting for the results of the US presidential elections.
Consequently, as delineated by Borrell, peace negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation are unlikely to commence until that time.
In addition, the head of diplomacy is sure that the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine would have unfolded completely differently if Donald Trump, and not Joe Biden, had remained the president of the United States.
For reference:
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. It was reported that the current leader of the States Joe Biden and ex-president Donald Trump have already announced their intention to participate in them.
Biden supports Ukraine and helps in every possible way to fight against Russian aggression, providing military and humanitarian aid.
At the same time, Trump has repeatedly opposed support for Ukraine.
He promised his voters "to end Russia's war against Ukraine in 24 hours" after being elected for a second presidential term. It should be noted that at the beginning of the war in 2014, he did not stop the Russian aggression.
In addition, Trump stated that he would allow Russia to take part of Ukrainian territories to avoid war.
