Raytheon plans to transfer five more Patriot missile complexes to Ukraine – WSJ

Raytheon Technologies, a manufacturer of MIM–104 Patriot anti–aircraft missile systems, has proposed increasing production and delivering five additional systems to Ukraine.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the company's executive director, Greg Hayes, stated this.

He says the company plans to increase production to 12 systems per year.

In addition, as Hayes noted, Raytheon Technologies plans to deliver five more systems to Ukraine by the end of next year.

"We were amazed by its effectiveness," Hayes said of the Patriot.

According to the publication, Ukraine has improved Patriot software to track and destroy Russian hypersonic missiles. At the same time, the Ukrainian military is armed with both PAC2 and more modern PAC3 missiles, capable of destroying high-speed targets.

In April, the first Patriot air defense systems arrived in Ukraine.

Already in May, the Ukrainian military, for the first time, managed to shoot down the Russian aeroballistic missile Kinzhal with the help of the Patriot complex.

It should be noted that the last package of military aid from the USA contained additional ammunition for Patriot air defense systems.

This system consists of multiple launchers and associated radars with various auxiliary components.

Earlier, it was reported that the Patriot launcher was probably damaged due to the Russian missile attack on Kyiv and its surroundings on May 16.

In turn, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said that destroying the Patriot air defense system with the Kinzhal missile is impossible, as its components are not in one place.
