Ukrainian soldiers master most Western weapons in two weeks – AFU commander
The Ukrainian Armed Forces master the majority of Western weapons in two weeks. Training on heavy machinery can take up to two months.
The Ukrainian military is highly motivated, which reduces the duration of their training, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev, told Ukrinform.
"New types of weapons that our fighters receive from partner countries, for example, portable anti-aircraft systems, anti-tank missile systems — our fighters master them in about two weeks. As for heavy weapons, the training period is up to two months," he said.
According to him, Ukrainian defenders are very motivated. "I want to note that our guys are studying the latest weapons and equipment with great interest, which significantly reduces their training time," Naiev added.
He reminded that the Armed Forces also undergo training on foreign equipment abroad. They are trained there for a month.
According to the general, Russians are trained at Belarusian training grounds for up to two months and then transferred to the east of Ukraine.
