42 people, among them seven children, missing person in Kherson region after Kakhovka Dam destruction

In the Kherson region, the number of missing persons has increased after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.

It is noted that 46 settlements remain flooded in the Kherson region.

Of them, 32 (3,801 houses) are in the Ukrainian-controlled territory, and 14 are on the temporarily occupied left bank.

8 people died, and another 42 people are considered missing, including seven children.

At the same time, 2,743 people were evacuated, including 205 children and 76 people with reduced mobility.

Meanwhile, 31 settlements were flooded in the Mykolaiv region. Two people are known to have died.

982 people were evacuated, including 167 children.

In addition, almost 165,000 residents in 32 settlements have no water supply in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Water delivery and the search for options for its stable supply are ongoing.

"We are recording a steady decrease in the water level in flooded settlements. We are strengthening security measures to prevent injury to people and cases of theft," emphasized the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

In the meantime, the police received 1,927 reports of flooding of personal property from residents of the Kherson region.

For reference:

After the Russians blew up the Kakhovka HPP, dozens of settlements in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions were flooded. The level of flooding in the Kherson region decreased by 64 cm; the water is currently at the mark of 3 m 29 cm.

It should be noted that as of the morning of June 12, the water level in the Kakhovka Reservoir continues to decrease, but yesterday the water moved away from the observation point at the "Nikopol" hydro post.

At the same time, enemy weapons depots on the left bank of the Dnipro River were washed into the water, so the current carried Russian ammunition and mines to the shores.

Ukraine's armed forces have issued a warning imploring citizens not to partake in beach clean up activities prior to the explosive ordinance disposal personnel conducting an assessment of the coastline, as this could result in contact with hazardous military munitions.
