Three killed and ten injured as Russian troops shell boat carrying evacuees from occupied left bank of Kherson region
Russian occupiers fired at a boat with civilians evacuating from the flooded areas in the captured left bank of Ukraine's southern Kherson region. The Russian shelling injured 13 people.
Rubryka reports, citing the statement of the Head of the Office of the President, Andrii Yermak, and the Head of the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, on the Telegram messaging app.
Thirteen people were injured due to the shelling of the boat used to evacuate people from the left bank. Three civilians were killed, and ten more were injured, including two law enforcement officers.
"The Russian army attacked a boat with civilians evacuating from the left bank in the Kherson region. They opened fire on civilians' backs. Six people were injured. They reached Kherson and were hospitalized in a medical facility. Doctors are fighting for the lives of the wounded," said Yermak.
Russian troops seal off occupied Oleshky, leaving flooded residents without water and electricity
"Russians are cowardly terrorists," Yermak emphasized.
Later, detailed information appeared from the head of the Kherson regional state administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
"Three civilians were killed, ten more were wounded, among them two law enforcement officers," Prokudin confirmed. "When the enemy opened fire, a 74-year-old man covered the woman with his body. The Russians shot him in the back. He died from his injuries. The doctors did not make it in time to help him."
What we know about the situation on the occupied left bank of the Kherson region
As is well known, part of the left bank of the Kherson region was flooded, particularly the city of Oleshky, after the Russian military blew up the Kakhovka dam. As of June 11, 14 settlements were flooded there.
The situation on the occupied left bank is critical, as the Russians are not massively evacuating the population. They also shelled populated areas.
Many online reported numerous victims due to flooding. This information is not confirmed by the Ukrainian authorities because there is no access to the occupied territory.
As Rubryka reported, the death of nine people due to flooding was confirmed in the occupied city of Oleshky.
