Ukraine’s Border Service warns Black Sea could become a “landfill and animal graveyard” after Kakhovka Dam disaster

In the Odesa region, Ukrainian border guards record the environmental damage caused by the Russian military's detonation of the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant.

The press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported this.

As defenders of the Ukrainian border in the Odesa region report, the Black Sea is "turning into a garbage dump and animal cemetery."

According to border guards, houses, furniture, appliances, and cars are floating in the sea. A plague of fish also begins.

Also, the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine emphasized that the water carries mines and ammunition and asked people to be careful.

It should be noted that EcoRubryka published a video of what the Odesa coast looks like now with the disposal of household appliances, sofas, and gas cylinders on the shore.

Moreover, a video was released showing how a dog was saved in Odesa, which was washed ashore on a board. The dog was found and rescued in Hryhorivka. Caring people took him to one of the Odesa clinics for treatment.

The dog was probably brought from the Kherson region, which was flooded due to the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP.

Rubryka's reporter also visited the Kherson region and talked with the locals. Rubryka wrote about Sadove, a village in the Kherson region, which lies on the banks of the Dnipro River. As Rubryka wrote, on the night of June 6, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, located a few kilometers from the temporarily occupied city of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.

It should be noted that in the occupied city of Oleshky, the death of 9 people due to flooding was confirmed.

In addition, a person also died in the Mykolaiv region due to flooding after the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

Meanwhile, in Mykolaiv and the region, the water level exceeded the historical maximum. In particular, due to the disaster, the Kinburn Spit was cut off from the mainland.

President Zelensky called on international organizations to respond to the disaster and immediately join the rescue of people in the occupied part of the Kherson region.

Earlier, the head of "Ukrhydroenerho" Ihor Syrota reported that the water level in the Kakhov reservoir fell below the "dead point". This means that it is currently impossible to draw water to the Zaporizhzhia NPP for cooling the station.

It was reported that Ukraine and the UN agreed on a plan to evacuate the population from the occupied left bank of the Kherson region after the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP.
