Ukraine’s security service intercepts a call proving Russian sabotage group blew up Kakhovka dam

Russian invaders wanted to blackmail Ukrainians by blowing up a dam and staging a man-made disaster in the south of Ukraine.

The Russian invaders tell each other about this in a telephone conversation, which the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) managed to intercept, the SSU Telegram channel reports.

"They (the Ukrainian side, note) didn't shell there. Our sabotage group is there. They wanted to scare people with this dam. It didn't go according to plan, but it became more than they planned," says a Russian military officer.

He also describes the consequences of this disaster, which the Russian Federation tries to hide: rising water levels, flooding of territories, and destruction.

As reported, the SSU opened criminal proceedings on the fact of a Russian war crime.

"By blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam, the Russian Federation finally proved that it is a threat to the entire civilized world. After all, only a real terrorist state can arrange a man-made and ecological disaster of this level. And it will be held accountable for it, both on the battlefield and in international courts. Our task is to bring to justice not only the top of Putin's regime but also ordinary perpetrators of crimes," SSU Chief Vasyl Maliuk said.

The investigation was started under two articles of the Criminal Code: Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) and Art. 441 (ecocide).

As Rubryka reported, on the night of June 6, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, located a few kilometers from the temporarily occupied city of Nova Kakhovka, Ukraine's southern Kherson region.

One person also died in the Mykolaiv region due to flooding after the Kakhovska hydroelectric power station explosion.

The Rubryka correspondent also reported that the Russians were shooting at people trying to evacuate in the flooded left-bank Kherson region.

Meanwhile, the water level exceeded the historical maximum in Mykolaiv and the region. Due to the disaster, the Kinburn Spit was cut off from the mainland.
