Ukraine’s armed forces launch counteroffensive actions on frontlines – deputy defense minister

Ukraine's armed forces are undertaking counteroffensive operations in certain frontline areas.

Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar reported this.

She noted that the Ukrainian military continues its defense, which began on February 24, 2022.

"The defensive operation includes everything, including counteroffensive actions. Therefore, in some areas, we are moving to offensive actions," she wrote.

Maliar noted that the epicenter of hostilities remains the Bakhmut front. There, Ukrainian fighters are moving along a fairly wide front. They achieve success and occupy the dominant heights.

At the same time, the Russian occupiers are on the defensive and want to hold their positions.

In the south, the enemy is also on the defensive. Fighting of local significance continues there.

The deputy defense minister also noted that the occupiers are actively spreading information about the counteroffensive, as they need to divert attention from their defeat on the Bakhmut front.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian political and military command has repeatedly announced the preparation of the Ukrainian soldiers for a counteroffensive to continue the liberation of the territories of Ukraine from the Russian invaders.

Initially, the counteroffensive was expected to take place in the spring. In addition, it was assumed that active fighting could still continue in the summer.

General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the United States, emphasized that tanks would provide Ukrainian defenders with essential firepower and strength and have a decisive impact in the highly anticipated counteroffensive.

Meanwhile, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian soldiers are already ready for counteroffensive actions, but it is unknown when exactly they will begin.

Also, the other day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, released a video with Ukrainian military personnel asking them to "bless the decisive offensive."

At the same time, Maliar previously asked Ukrainians not to discuss the military's actions because "plans love silence." She noted that no one is going to warn about the start of counteroffensive actions.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly launched a "large-scale offensive" on the morning of June 4. The statement says that the offensive began on five front areas in the South-Donetsk direction with the introduction into battle of two mechanized brigades "from the strategic reserves of Ukraine's armed forces with the support of other military units." However, these data were denied by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
