British journalists publish arms contract showing Iran has sold ammunition to Russia

British journalists from Sky News have published a contract that shows Iran selling weapons to Russia during a full-scale war against Ukraine.

Sky News reports that an informed source has provided the document that shows various types of ammunition worth just over $1 million. 

"This is a contract between the Iranians and the Russians regarding munitions… We believe it is 100% authentic," said a security source.

The 16-page document, dated September 14, 2022, refers to samples of artillery and tank shells worth more than $1 million. The source handed over that contract along with five pages of what is likely a related contract, which lists barrels for T-72 tanks and barrels for artillery systems (howitzers), as well as ammunition shells. The amount of this contract is about $740,000.

The Russian embassy and the Iranian embassy in the UK did not respond to requests for comment on the arms deal or the authenticity of the documents.

Sky News journalists showed the documents to Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine's prime minister, when he visited Britain in May, and the UK's foreign secretary, James Cleverly.

Kyiv and London said they planned to investigate the authenticity of the material and would take action if it was found to be credible.

Earlier, Rubryka reported that Iranian authorities have secretly supplied large quantities of ammunition, rockets, and mortars to Russia for the war against Ukraine and plan to send even more.
