Solutions to win: Germany to purchase 66 BATT armored vehicles for Ukraine
The German government and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH (FFG) signed a contract for the supply of 66-wheeled armored personnel carriers.
So far, there is no information as to when the FFG wheeled APCs will be sent to Ukraine, DPA reports.
What is the solution?
Berlin was considering buying Fuchs APCs from the Rheinmetall defense concern for Ukraine but chose FFG as the price for their APCs was six to seven times lower.
How does it work?
The German government will buy 64 multipurpose vehicles from FFG – old motor vehicles produced in Sweden, which the company has modernized. The Bundeswehr previously used some of them.
The federal government of Germany does not disclose the payment for FFG under the two contracts.
Last week, Germany supplied Ukraine with one TRML-4D radar air surveillance station.
The Quantum Systems drone manufacturer said the German government had placed an order for 300 additional medium-range Vector reconnaissance drones as military aid to the Ukrainian forces.
