Fighter jet coalition: Zelensky to discuss supply of warplanes to Ukraine at Ramstein

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders agreed to continue the work on an official decision to create a coalition of fighter jets at the next Ramstein format meeting after future consultations with the American side.

The leaders discussed practical issues related to the start of training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets and other types of aircraft.

We agreed after future consultations with the American side to continue work on an official decision on the creation of a coalition of combat aircraft of the "Sky Shield of Ukraine" at the next meeting in the Ramstein format, Zelensky said.

The participants also discussed the future supply of aircraft and the creation of the necessary infrastructure for them.

 Zelensky also raised the issue of the need to form a coalition of Patriot air defense systems amid intensified missile attacks on Ukrainian cities by Russia.

On June 1, the second meeting of the European Political Community was held in Chisinau, which brought together 47 heads of state and government to discuss joint efforts for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine and related crises.

Last week, the UK announced the launch of an international coalition of countries aimed at training Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighters, including the F-16. The coalition already includes Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, the United States, and Portugal.

The White House also confirmed that in the coming months, the US and its allies will discuss when and in what quantity Ukraine will receive modern fighter jets.
