Ukraine’s national post will support orphans of war with proceeds from stamps with children’s drawings

Ukraine's national post, Ukrposhta, issued a stamp with children's drawings on Children's Day, announcing the sale of the postal stamp set "Children of Victory Draw Ukraine of the Future." 

What is the problem?

Many of the over 7.5 million children in Ukraine have suffered directly from the consequences of Russian aggression. Instead of enjoying carefree childhoods, these children now find themselves seeking refuge in bomb shelters, hearing explosions daily, and losing their parents. 

What is the solution?

As an act of solidarity and a way to support Ukrainian orphans of war, Ukrposhta announced they will issue a stamp with a children's drawing that wins its contest, "Children of Victory Draw the Ukraine of the Future." 

Ukraine's national post received more than 300 drawings in the e-mail box. Almost 470,000 respondents took part in the voting to determine the winner. The picture "Most Cherished Dream" by 14-year-old Oleksandra Fedorchuk from the Kyiv region won the contest. The painting depicts a mother and a child meeting a beloved father returning from war after service in the army.

How does it work?

Ukrposhta issued a stamp with Oleksandra's picture for Children's Day. The company created a set of stamps with the best children's drawings on this topic, said the company's general director Ihor Smilianskyi.

"First, there was the Mriya (Dream) stamp, with the dream of what will happen when Ukraine wins. Then there was a New Year's stamp depicting a dream that families would be together in the new year. And now the third stamp, which children created, is how they see the Ukraine of the future," he said. "As you can see, the motives of both the first and the second stamps are the same, where everything challenging remains in the past, and families meet their heroes from war in our country."

At the numerous requests of the voting participants, Ukrposhta also reproduced the drawings that made it to the finals in the postal issue:

• Veronika Ivantsovova (9 years old, Khmelnytskyi);
• Oleksandra Bushynska (13 years old, Odesa region);
• Anastasia Mysko (12 years old, Khmelnytskyi region);
• Varvara Kolesova (9 years old, Mykolaiv region);
• Georgy Sosnytskyi (6 years old, Kharkiv);
• Diana Vasylenko (4 years old, Poltava).

The postal set can be purchased at branches and the Postal Market, eBay, and Amazon marketplaces. Ihor Smilyansky noted that 40 hryvnias from each stamp sheet would go to charity. Funds will be directed to orphanages and children who have lost their parents.

As Runryka reported, Ukrposhta announced that it is starting pre-orders for the "Children of Victory Draw the Ukraine of the Future" postal set.

In May, Ukrposhta created unusual audio postcards with stories of soldiers and volunteers. The funds were transferred to drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
