US announces $300 million military assistance package for Ukraine
The Biden administration announced a new $300 million military assistance package for Ukraine.
It includes ammunition for US Patriot air-defense batteries and HIMARS rocket launchers, according to Bloomberg.
We will use this package , which we are announcing today, to provide Ukraine with additional ammunition for the Patriot air defense systems, which Ukraine uses quite effectively, as well as a larger number of Avenger air defense systems, Stinger anti-aircraft systems, Pentagon's John Kirby noted.
Kirby stressed Russia is launching new attacks on Ukrainian cities and destroying civilian infrastructure.
The United States will continue to support Ukraine, he said.
The US allocated at least 38 packages of defense assistance under the order of US President Biden (presidential drawdown) when equipment and ammunition are urgently received from the available resources of the Pentagon.
Worth noting that Biden stressed the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine is still under consideration.
