Zelensky holds telephone conversation with PM of Cambodia

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, and expressed hope for the country's continued training of Ukrainian demining specialists.

Zelensky reported this on Telegram.

"I had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen. Thank you for your principled position on supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Zelensky said.

"I noted Cambodia's training of Ukrainian demining specialists. I hope for the continuation of this cooperation," the President emphasized.

He also informed the Prime Minister about the Ukrainian peace formula and invited Cambodia to join certain steps for its implementation.

For reference:

In March 2022, Cambodia was among the numerous countries that jointly presented a United Nations General Assembly resolution that firmly censured the Russian aggression against Ukraine. In addition, Cambodia also effectively endorsed another UN resolution later in the same year.

On October 12, 2022, the 193 member nations of the United Nations General Assembly unanimously voted in a resolution to uphold the principles of the UN Charter, with 143 countries opting in favor. Of these, Cambodia was one of the participating members. However, five countries, namely Russia, Syria, Nicaragua, North Korea, and Belarus, voted against the resolution by abstaining. Subsequently, Ukraine signaled its gratitude towards Cambodia for issuing an official statement through the ASEAN Foreign Ministers, expressing alarm over events taking place in Ukraine and advocating for an immediate cessation of hostilities and negotiations mediated by the UN.
