Russian army attempting to fully occupy Luhansk and Donetsk regions – Ukraine's general staff

The Russian troops endeavored to gain total control of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, and Ukraine's armed forces executed three assaults against the adversary's aerial defense.

Attacks conducted by the Russian army
On May 29, the Russian Federation carried out two massive air and missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
At night, the enemy used Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles and Iranian attack UAVs "Shahed-136/131".
According to detailed information, the forces and means of the air command, in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed 36 out of 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 30 out of 38 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.
Enemy forces employed an Iskander operational-tactical missile complex during the daytime, equipping cruise and ballistic missiles to target Kyiv's civil and critical infrastructure. Ukraine's Air Force successfully neutralized 11 out of 11 missiles.
In general, during this day, the enemy carried out 53 airstrikes and carried out about 20 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of the Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
Regrettably, there have been casualties among the civilian populace, and private dwellings and other civilian and governmental infrastructure have sustained damage. The likelihood of missile and air strikes across the territory of Ukraine remains high.
The situation on the front lines
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on attempts to occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk regions completely. During the day, units of Ukraine's defense forces repelled 20 enemy attacks.
- On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains stable; no signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected.
- In the Siversk and Slobozhansk areas, the enemy maintains a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine.
- During the day, the Russians carried out an airstrike in the Milovo district of the Kharkiv region. The occupiers carried out mortar and artillery shelling of the settlements of Seredyna-Buda, Pavlivka, Katerynivka, Shevchenkive, Velyka Pysarivka of the Sumy region, as well as Udy, Strelecha, Hlyboke, Morokhovets, Ternova, Izbytske, Staritsa, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Tykhe, Vovchanski Khutory, Mala Vovcha, Varvarivka, Budarky, Zemlianka, Chuhunivka in the Kharkiv region.
- On the Kupiansk front, during the day, the Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Masiutivka area of the Kharkiv region.
Kolodiazne, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Kyslivka, Hlushkivka, Berestovka, Bohuslavka of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
- During the day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations on the Lyman front. The Russian troops carried out airstrikes in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Spirnyi, Donetsk region.
Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region, and Spirne of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
- During the day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations on the Bakhmut front but carried out an airstrike in the Toretsk district of the Donetsk region.
Vasiukivka, Kramatorsk, Tykhonivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Ivanovske, Predtechine, Bila Hora, Zalizne, and New York of the Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.
The enemy did not conduct offensive operations on the Avdiyivka front.
The Russians carried out airstrikes in the Avdiivka and Vodyanyi districts of the Donetsk region. They carried out artillery shelling of the settlements of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka of the Donetsk region.
- On the Mariinka front, our defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks in the area of the city of Mariinka. The enemy launched an air strike in the Heorgiivka area. At the same time, Mariinka and Heorgiivka of the Donetsk region were subjected to enemy shelling.
- On the Shakhtarsky front, the enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Prechystivka. The occupiers shelled the settlements of Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, and Shakhtarske.
- The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations on the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts by carrying out airstrikes in the Zaporizhia region's Huliaipole and Mala Tokmachka districts.
The Russians shelled the settlements of Vremivka, Zelene Pole, and Novopil of the Donetsk region; Olhivske, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orihiv, Novoandriivka and Stepnohirsk of the Zaporizhia region; Kachkarivka, Mylove, Kozatske, Burhunka, Lviv, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Komysany, Dniprovske, Kizomys of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.
The Russian occupiers continue to rob the civilian population. Thus, in the temporarily occupied Svatovo region of the Luhansk region, harvesters, trucks, and other expensive equipment are simply taken from farms that, due to the owner's departure, cannot provide some documents on the right of ownership.
Successes of the Ukrainian military
The air force of the Ukrainian defense forces made 15 strikes during the day on areas where enemy personnel and military equipment were concentrated.
Units of missile troops and artillery struck:
- Three areas of concentration of weapons,
- Military ammunition depot,
- Three systems of air defense,
- Three important enemy targets.

It should be noted that Ukrainian defenders have eliminated another 430 Russian invaders in the past day. Ukraine's armed forces also destroyed dozens of enemy equipment and drones.
