Estonia hosts traditional embroidery festival in solidarity with Ukraine

The Open Air Museum in Tallinn, Estonia, hosted the Embroidery Unites festival — the event brought together the largest number of people in Ukrainian traditional embroidered shirts in the Baltic countries.

The PR director of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia, Inna Hordienko, shared on Facebook that the event set a Ukrainian national record.

She reported that an official representative of the National Register of Records of Ukraine registered the record.

"It was an incredible celebration of Ukrainian and Estonian culture in terms of its scale and beauty, a celebration of the union of two peoples through love for art, folk art, and traditions," Hordienko shared her impressions.

According to her, the festival gathered the best local chefs of Ukrainian cuisine — Faina Ukraina, Kanuti Ramen, SLAVA Ukraina restoran & kohvik, Wines From Ukraine — and talented artisans from Ukraine who presented the incredible beauty of hand-made products. Estonian and Ukrainian singers and dancers entertained and energized the guests. Among them were VYLNA–Oksana Novokhatniaia ensemble, Anastasia Rodynchuk, Hanna Kharchenko, Aliona Mikhalchun, Liudmila Hramiak, Tetiana Tok, Natalia Tsvik, Volya Ukrainian song and dance group, and Oleh Yevtushenko.

The highlight of the festival was the display of Estonian ethnic clothing by designer Vilve Unt, which was modeled by Ukrainian girls Yulia Huseva and Nastia Breus.

This year, Ukraine was presented for the first time at the Europe Day celebration in the center of Tallinn. The Embassy of Ukraine and Estonian Ukrainians actively participated in events in Tallinn on Europe Day. Ukraine was represented for the first time in a European town in the center of the Estonian capital alongside 15 EU member states.

Over the past two years, the demand for embroidered shirts has more than quadrupled in Ukraine.
