Attack on Bakhmut has become a "meat grinder" for Russia – US National Security Council
The United States has concluded that the Russian offensive efforts in the Bakhmut region had an exorbitant cost in terms of losses.
According to Ukrinform, John Kirby, the National Security Council Coordinator of the White House, reported this during a telephone briefing on Wednesday, May 24.
"This offensive (on Bakhmut – ed.), in fact, cost Russia terribly. And, as I already said, it became a meat grinder for them in a certain way", – noted the representative of the White House.
He mentioned that the estimated figures announced by Washington about Russian losses near Bakhmut in early May are accurate. However, according to him, since then, the Russians have been losing even more human power every day.
Kirby also drew attention to the conflicting relations of the leader of the "Wagner" group Yevgeny Prigozhin with the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
For reference:
According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar, there is a decrease in the intensity of fighting in the Bakhmut area.
Moreover, the enemy is trying to strengthen its positions on the flanks and relies on artillery fire. At the same time, Ukrainian troops manage to advance little by little.
