Ukrainian air defense downs 20 drones and four cruise missiles in new Russian attack

On the night of May 22, Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed 20 Russian attack drones and four cruise missiles.

On the night of May 22, Russian invaders attacked military and infrastructure facilities in the eastern city of Dnipro. The Russian forces attacked with 16 missiles of various types and 20 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 attack drones.

The Russian invaders launched:

  • Four Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles from Tu-95ms strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea region;
  • Five Kh-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22m3 long-range bombers from different directions – the Sea of Azov and Russia's Kursk region;
  • Two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • Five S-300 anti-aircraft guided rockets from the occupied territory of Ukraine's southeastern Zaporizhzhia region.
  • 20 Iranian Shahed-136/131 attack drones from the south and north.

During the night attack on May 22, the forces and means of air defense of the East Air Command and South Air Command in the eastern and southern directions destroyed four Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 20 Shahed attack drones.

On May 21, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet was destroyed in the territorial waters of Ukraine in the Kherson region. The circumstances are being clarified.

As Rubryka reported, Ukraine's Defense Forces eliminated about 203,880 Russian invaders from February 24, 2022, to May 22, 2023.
