Intelligence confirms units of Russian citizens are fighting on Ukraine's side in Belgorod
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed that Russian volunteer fighters are conducting an operation in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced this, Hromadske reports.
Yuson emphasized that the events in the Belgorod region and other border territories are a consequence of the invasion and full-scale aggressive war of Putin's Russia against Ukraine.
"Responsibility for these events [ the military operation – ed.] was taken by the citizens of the Russian Federation, namely the forces of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Legion "Freedom of Russia." I think that we can all welcome the decisive actions of the opposition-minded citizens of the Russian Federation, who are ready for an armed struggle against the criminal regime of Vladimir Putin, who seized power in Russia," Yusov said.
According to him, the operation of Russian fighters will contribute to creating a demilitarized zone — "a certain security zone in the border regions of Russia neighboring Ukraine."
"It is from there that shelling of the border regions of Ukraine has recently intensified, which causes significant damage to civilian infrastructure and, unfortunately, casualties among the civilian population," explained the representative of the Ministry of Defense.
He added that after the victory, Ukraine would insist on the continued existence of this demilitarized security zone.
According to Yusov, the number of citizens of the Russian Federation who are ready to liberate their country from this illegal government is growing.
