Ukrainian pilots have started training on F16 jets – Borrell
EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell hopes Ukraine will soon receive F-16 fighter jets.
EU High Representative Borrell stated this in Brussels before the start of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Ukrinform reports.
"It was a good idea and good words coming from the G7. They finally decided to prepare the groundwork to provide Ukraine with the combat aircraft it needs. Pilot training has already started. That's the first thing that should have been done. I hope that soon we can provide Ukraine with weapons of this kind," said Borrell.
The United States has given the green light for third countries to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. Negotiations in this regard are ongoing.
Several European states have announced the start of training programs for Ukrainian military pilots to use jets.
