Biden unveils new military aid package at meeting with Zelensky in Japan

On May 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Joe Biden began a meeting in Hiroshima, Japan, within the framework of the G7 summit.

This is reported by the head of state on Telegram, CNN.

"US President Joe Biden is meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima on the sidelines of the G7 summit," CNN noted.

As Reuters reports, the American president announced the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $375 million, which will include:

• additional ammunition for HIMARS missile and artillery systems;
• artillery shells;
• TOW anti-tank guided missiles;
• Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
• bridge systems;
• armored medical vehicles;
• trucks and trailers for transporting heavy equipment;
• thermal imaging systems;
• spare parts and other field equipment.

At this time, the details of their meeting have not been disclosed.

The G7 summit in Japan began on May 19 and will last three days. At the summit, the representatives of the present states shall deliberate on the circumstances in Ukraine, nuclear disarmament, local matters, the international economy, and universal concerns, including but not limited to climate transformation, healthcare, and development.

During the meeting, Japan, the USA, Italy, Canada, France, Great Britain, and Germany condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine in the final communique of the G7 summit.

The leaders promised to support Kyiv "as long as it is necessary to establish a comprehensive, just, and durable peace."

President Volodymyr Zelensky took part in the working session of the summit "Towards a Peaceful, Stable and Prosperous World" on May 21.
