Zelensky and Trudeau meet on sidelines of summit in Hiroshima

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G7 summit in the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

The Ukrainian leader noted that matters of vital importance to the bilateral agenda were discussed during the meeting, including:

• further cooperation in the field of security and defense,
• the situation at the front,
• training of Ukrainian officers within the framework of the Canadian UNIFIER training mission,
• the importance of implementing all points of the Ukrainian peace formula,
• Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

"I highly appreciate the fact that friendly Canada is one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression. But now is a critical moment for us and the world, and Ukraine needs increased assistance.

I would like to personally thank Justin Trudeau and Canada for their practical help in demining territories and for the prompt processing of our requests by the Canadian government and Canadian manufacturers," the President emphasized.

As Rubryka wrote earlier, in the city of Hiroshima, within the framework of a working visit to Japan on the sidelines of the summit of the leaders of the G7 states, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak and the Prime by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

The G7 summit in Japan began on May 19 and will last three days. At the summit, the representatives of the present states shall deliberate on the circumstances in Ukraine, nuclear disarmament, local matters, the international economy, and universal concerns, including but not limited to climate transformation, healthcare, and development.

During the meeting, Japan, the USA, Italy, Canada, France, Great Britain, and Germany condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine in the final communique of the G7 summit.

The leaders promised to support Kyiv "as long as it is necessary to establish a comprehensive, just, and durable peace."
