Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also joined the talks at the G7 leaders' summit today, May 20.
As noted, the leaders of the "Big Seven" countries "confirmed their commitment to joint opposition to Russia's illegal, unjustified and unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine."
A senior US official said there had been very specific talks between Washington and its partners on new sanctions.
The US Treasury Department stated that the newly implemented sanctions were designed to uphold the agreement between the G7 leaders to target further individuals employed in the Russian military-industrial complex sectors.
Enterprises involved in aerospace, quantum computing, and finance were included in the prohibited list.
"An additional 1,224 industrial products added to the list will now require a license for export or re-export and transfer within Russia and Belarus," the department's document emphasized.

G7 nations are looking to cease any activity that may be used to circumvent existing monetary penalties.
The finance ministry listed several examples of such schemes, including the sale of advanced technology to Russian entities involved in nuclear weapons development through Indian intermediaries.

As Nikkei Asia writes, the country's government will freeze the assets of 100 individuals and legal entities that tried to violate the current restrictions.
Japan will also ban exports to approximately 80 Russian organizations linked to the war.
