Solutions to win: Ukrainian rescuers create vehicle to demine Kharkiv region
Ukrainian rescuers from the Kharkiv region created a vehicle to demine the liberated area safely.
Currently, it is successfully operating in mined fields, saving the lives of personnel.
What is the problem?
Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that approximately 30% of the territory is mined as a result of the Russian invasion.
This equals more than two territories of Austria or five territories of Moldova.
The State Emergency Service predicted that it would take 5 to 10 years to demine Ukraine completely. Humanitarian demining involves a comprehensive inspection of the entire territory where hostilities took place.
Ukraine's defense minister Oleksii Reznikov recently stated that demining Ukraine with currently available resources may take 35 years.
What is the solution?
Luckily, special equipment can speed up this process.
Local authorities report that the vehicle was jointly created with the efforts of Kharkiv authorities, rescuers, volunteers, and NGOs.
How does it work?
Currently, this machine has a single model, but according to Kharkiv's administration, it already shows high efficiency. The vehicle has a pressure principle of action and can neutralize anti-tank and anti-personnel mines.
Demining is one of the priority tasks in our region, which is heavily contaminated with enemy mines and ammunition. We are proud of our defenders, rescuers, sappers, inventors, volunteers, all people who unite and work together for victory!" they stressed.
Ukraine wants to start the production of demining machines and train 500 sappers per year.
