Ukraine’s armed forces downs 19 out of 22 drones and 3 out of 6 rockets in Russian night attack

On the night of May 19, Ukraine's Air Force destroyed 19 out of 22 Iranian-made Shahed drones and 3 out of 6 Kalibr rockets that the Russian forces fired over Ukraine.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on the Telegram messaging app.

"During this night attack, three cruise missiles and 16 attack drones were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense of the Center, West, and South Air Commands of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the report said.

The invaders attacked Ukraine from the north and south-east directions with Shahed-136/13″ attack drones and Kalibr cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea.

22 Shahed and six Kalibr launches were recorded.

At night, the Russian forces attacked the central Kyiv region for the tenth time a month. Ukraine's capital Kyiv was attacked with drones in several waves, with short intervals between attacks.

"With this tactic, the Kremlin's evil is trying to exhaust our air defense, as well as psychologically press the civilian population," said Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. The forces and means of anti-aircraft defense destroyed all air targets moving toward Kyiv. No strikes on Kyiv were recorded.

Around 4 a.m., the Russian forces tried to attack objects of the city's critical infrastructure in the western Lviv region. with Shahed drones. Five drones were shot down. Between 03:00 a.m. and 05:00 a.m., defenders from the West air defense destroyed five combat drones over the Lviv region. Another one was eliminated over another region in the west of Ukraine, the head of the region, Maksym Kozytskyi, said.

Several explosions also rang out in Kryvyi Rih. The Russians hit a private industrial enterprise. A 64-year-old woman was injured. She was hospitalized in serious condition. A 45-year-old man received minor injuries.

At night in the Mykolaiv region, three Russian Kalibr cruise missiles were shot down by air defense forces.
