Residents of Ukraine's Lviv restore architectural monument at their own expense
Twelve building residents independently finance the restoration of the entrance to an architectural monument in Lviv on Rutkovicha Street.
Rubryka reports, citing the announcement on the page of the Harda restoration workshop.
What is the problem?
The house at 12 Rutkovicha Street is a landmark of local importance.
What is the solution?
"The paintings here are not very special, but they, and the stucco, and the doors, and the cobblestones, have been preserved and should not just be repaired but rather restored," says the founder of the restoration workshop, Iryna Hirn. "I am happy that people live in this house who understand the value of restoration, which we decided to finance, including the work of specialists ourselves and restore everything comprehensively."
How does it work?
The work began with the restoration of the stucco and stone in the entrance part of the entrance, followed by polychrome (color) paintings. The Krakow-based restoration company Revive Konserwacja Zabytków is helping the residents.
Previously, residents restored several wooden doors as part of the city's program.
Restoration work in the building will continue at least until the end of the year. For their implementation, together with the Lviv City Council, restorers and residents issued all the necessary documents.
As Rubryka reported, the Ukrainian Institute, with the support of USAID in Ukraine together with KYIFORNIA, launched the international campaign Postcards from Ukraine to tell the world about the targeted destruction of objects of Ukrainian culture, which embody the history of not only the Ukrainian people but also the entire European civilization.
