Russian troops strike Kherson region with 281 shells, killing six civilians

On Sunday, May 14, the Russian army shelled Ukraine's southern Kherson region 86 times.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, reported on the Telegram messaging app that six people were killed and three more were injured.

"Over the past day, the enemy launched 86 attacks, firing 381 shells from heavy artillery, tanks, UAVs, and aviation," Prokudin wrote.

According to the head of the region, the Russian army shelled Kherson four times, firing nine shells. "The Russian military targeted the residential quarters of the populated areas of the region," Prokudin said.

As a result of the Russian aggression, six people died, and three more were injured. The head of the region added that another 56 people were evacuated from the liberated territory of the area.

Ukraine's southern Kherson region and the regional center city of Kherson have been consistently shelled and bombed by Russian forces since they were liberated from a nine-month-long Russian occupation in November 2022. The Russian troops have targeted civilian residential areas, energy, and logistics infrastructure. The latest Russian shelling of a railway station, a gas station, a supermarket, and a hypermarket in one area of Kherson on May 3, 2023, killed 23 people and injured 46.
