Zelensky hints at "jets coalition" after meeting with German chancellor
Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky has a Europe meeting tour to launch a jet fighters coalition.
This is Ukraine's priority, he said during the press conference with Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
We are currently working on creating a coalition of fighter jets, and my visits to the capitals of Europe are partly aimed at this. I think it will be successful. I will also appeal to the German side today to support Ukraine in this initiative. This is important for us, the president said.
As Zelensky noted, he will discuss the issue of fighter jets together with the Chancellor of Germany during the second part of their meeting.
Scholz noted that Germany had helped Ukraine a lot since the beginning of the full-scale war, and today it is necessary to force Russia to leave the state's territory.
We have already delivered a lot in terms of air defense. Patriot, IRIS-T, as well as Gepard, as well as other weapons, various artillery systems. This is what we are concentrating on, the chancellor noted.
Zelensky arrived in Berlin for the first time since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war. It happened on the night of Sunday, May 14, accompanied by fighter jets.
Germany's president Steinmeier met Zelensky at the Bellevue Palace on Sunday under heightened security measures.
On Saturday, May 13, the German government announced the allocation of 2.7 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine, which is the largest package since Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine in February last year.
