Weimar Triangle ministers to meet in Kyiv to discuss Ukraine’s accession to EU

Ministers of the Weiman Triangle (Poland, Germany, France grouping) will jointly visit the countries that intend to become members of the EU, in particular the countries of the Western Balkans and Ukraine.

Polish Minister for European Affairs Szymon Shynkowski vel Senk said this on Friday in Kurnik (western Poland) during a joint media briefing with his counterparts.

The three countries agreed on the content of a joint letter addressed to the European Commissioner for EU Enlargement. Warsaw, Paris, and Berlin structured specific proposals to the European Commission regarding the "improvement of European integration processes."

As countries of the Weimar Triangle, we made the decision visit the candidate countries (for joining the EU – ed.) in the Western Balkans, and then Ukraine, Polish representative stressed.

French minister expressed her admiration for Ukraine's efforts to join the EU. The countries can "build a stronger, autonomous Europe that has its own unique voice in the concert of nations – as a strong ally of the United States and other countries that share common values." she said.

German counterpart emphasized that the path of the candidate countries to the EU should go through the implemented reforms. She also highly appreciated Ukraine's efforts on the way to membership in the European Union.

As reported, the Weimar triangle is an informal international grouping of Poland, France, and Germany, which was founded in 1991.
