Italian mass media receive confirmation of Zelensky's visit to Rome
Italian mass media claim they received confirmation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Italy on May 13.
Agency ANSA and Agencia Italia report that the visit will indeed take place on May 13, without specifying from which official sources they received the information.
Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the presidential palace on Friday. The time of the meeting is withheld for security reasons.
A meeting with Prime Minister Georgia Maloney is also expected. According to sources in the Vatican, Zelensky may also meet with the Pope. No details have been revealed yet.
At first, the Italian media, citing sources, reported that the president of Ukraine might visit Italy for a short visit during his trip to Germany, where he should be this weekend.
In April, as is known, Francis received Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. Zelensky was in the Vatican in February 2020 before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Italian prime minister, in her turn, made her first visit to Ukraine in February 2023, during which she announced a military aid package that includes SAMP/T-MAMBA complexes and Spada and Skyguard systems.
