International Organization for Migration rebuilds houses damaged by Russian forces in Mykolaiv region
Houses damaged by shelling by Russian troops are being rebuilt in Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region.
Rubryka reports, citing the Humanitarian Headquarters of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, that the houses are being restored thanks to the help of the International Organization for Migration, which provides the region, particularly, with building materials.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN agency that offers support and guidance on migration to both governments and those who are migrating, such as refugees, internally displaced persons, and migrant workers. In this instance, the IOM is assisting the people of the Mykolaiv region, many of whom became internally displaced due to Russian shelling and occupation of part of this southern region. Now, the Mykolaiv residents are returning to the native lands that are de-occupied and recovering from shelling.
"We regularly receive from residents photos of already repaired roofs in settlements that have received slate per their needs and where the recovery is ongoing," the statement says.
The Headquarters added that the IOM support is significant for the Mykolaiv region and provides the necessary living conditions for those families whose houses were damaged.
Earlier, Rubryka reported that the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Japanese musician and frontman of the band X Japan Yoshiki created a joint initiative — a grant program for inclusive music initiatives, bands, musicians, educational institutions, and public organizations can participate.
