The European Union is ready to provide Ukraine with a million shells for artillery to fight against Russian aggression.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated this during a briefing with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
"Every day, Ukraine demonstrates the effectiveness of our defense against Russian aggression. Every downed terrorist missile, every success of our soldiers in repelling Russian assaults is evidence that we can defeat this aggressor," the head of state emphasized.
At the same time, the president stressed the importance of ensuring the proportionality of Ukraine's capabilities to Russia's capabilities.
"In this context, today I thanked Ursula for the readiness of the European Union to provide Ukraine with the much-needed ammunition, one million shells for artillery," the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelensky also mentioned that, among other things, he discussed with von der Leyen the speed of procurement and delivery of these ammunitions. After all, they are absolutely needed on the front line.
It should be noted that on May 5, the Council of the EU finally approved the allocation of 1 billion euros to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.
In the European Parliament, Ukraine's supporters advocate speeding up the adoption of the projectile act for Ukraine.
