Ukrainian chess player ranks in top 10 of world's best female players
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) presented the rating list as of May 1, 2023.
As before, former world champion Ukrainian Mariia Muzychuk with a personal index of 2515, is included in the top ten of the ranking of the best female athletes, writes Ukrinform.
On the 12th position is Mariia's older sister – Anna Muzychuk, with a score of 2504, who has not made it to the top 10 of the world classification for the second month in a row.
The Chinese citizen Hou Yifan (2628) continues to lead the women's ranking.
In addition to the Muzychuk sisters, there are also three representatives of Ukraine in the first hundred of the strongest female chess players in the world:
- Julia Osmak (2440),
- Anna Ushenina (2434),
- Natalia Buksa (2406).
As for the male ranking, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen (2853) confidently leads the men.
Seven Ukrainian male chess players are included in the world's top 100:
- Pavlo Elianov (2705),
- Andrii Volokitin (2674),
- Ihor Kovalenko (2674),
- Ruslan Ponomariov (2664),
- Anton Korobov (2664),
- Yurii Kryvoruchko (2656),
- Vasyl Ivanchuk (2655).
