Eurovision Suspilne reports that artists wore costumes on which were written the names and weights of children prematurely born during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine on the "Turquoise Corridor," where Eurovision participants traditionally walk.
With the help of the initiative 'Caring people save children's hearts,' the group aims to attract Ukrainian and international support for the Eurovision Song Contest and raise UAH 10 million to purchase ten incubators to save prematurely born children, Suspilne reports.
Fundraising platform United24 and the Ministry of Health, TVORCHI band, and Visa company launched a fundraiser for equipment for premature babies.
"Premature babies usually have not yet fully developed vital functions, such as independent breathing, thermoregulation, and the ability to eat," said Deputy Minister of Health Maria Karchevych. "Daylight and the external environment are too aggressive for them. That is why they need to be raised in special conditions. The incubator allows them to be created."
The Save Heart fundraising will last from April 28 to May 28. You can donate using the link.
For background
The Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision 2022, so the next song contest will be held in Ukraine. However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) decided that the 2023 competition would be held in the UK, which took second place last year. Eurovision will not take place in Ukraine due to Russia's full-scale war.
Liverpool will host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest. The Grand Final will occur at the Liverpool Arena on May 13, with the semi-finals on May 9 and 11.
The competition will be held on behalf of Ukraine, so Ukraine still has a place in the final. Suspilne representatives will cooperate with the BBC to develop and implement Ukrainian elements of the show during Eurovision-2023. Ukraine will be represented by the band TVORCHI with the song Heart of Steel.
