Ukraine shot down a hypersonic Russian missile for the first time – air force commander
On May 4, Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense forces did shoot down a Russian "Kinzhal" missile.
The commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, confirmed that on Telegram.
"I congratulate the Ukrainian people on a historic event!
Yes, we shot down the "unparalleled Kinzhal"!
Patriot.
It happened during the night attack on May 4 in the sky of Kyiv Region. The X-47 missile was launched by the MiG-31K from the territory of Russia," Oleschuk noted.
The commander also asks in advance "not to make public information that the enemy can use."
"We will definitely report what, where, with what, and when it was shot down! In due time. When loud explosions are heard in the air, my daughter always reassures the neighbors with the words: calm down, our air defense is working!
Talk to your neighbors, help each other in difficult moments, believe in our Air Force, believe in air defense!" summarized the Commander.

It should be noted that the publication "Defense Express," after analyzing the photo of the wreckage of the missile, suggested that on the night of May 4, the "hypersonic" X-47 "Kinzhal" was successfully shot down over Kyiv for the first time.
Later, the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, stated that air defense did not shoot down a Russian ballistic missile in the sky over Kyiv on May 4.
As Rubryka wrote, on May 4, the Air Defense Forces shot down all the enemy drones and missiles that attacked Kyiv that night. Debris from downed enemy drones fell in the capital's Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Podilskyi districts.
