Netherlands to send armored crane vehicles to Ukraine
More than 10 armored cranes are to be delivered to Ukraine from the Netherlands soon, but their exact number is not yet known.
Captain Tom van Hout, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, said this in a comment to the correspondent of Ukrinform.
These are cranes with an armored cabin in front. More than 10 armored cranes have yet to be delivered to Ukraine, but their exact number is not yet known, said a representative of the Dutch defense ministry.
Van Hout also explained that such cranes are used, for example, when a military vehicle is stuck in the mud and needs to be pulled out.
In such a situation, it is advisable to do it while in an armored cabin for safety. So they are used, for example, for maintenance and restoration on the battlefield, the captain explained.
Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky together with the Dutch PM Mark Rutte and the defense minister Kajsa Ollongren visited the base of the Air Force.
The head of state met with servicemen of Ukrainian forces who are undergoing training in the Netherlands, cadets of the Kyiv national military university, as well as with wounded soldiers undergoing rehabilitation in medical institutions.
