Hope for agreement: EU ambassadors will again discuss ammunition for Ukraine

Today, May 3, the ambassadors of the EU member states will again try to agree on approaches to the joint purchasing of ammunition for Ukraine.

The European Pravda reports, citing the Polish media RMF FM with reference to its sources, that they also plan to discuss an option acceptable to France and finally end the dispute.

According to reports, one of the European diplomats said in a conversation with Polish radio journalists that they had already worked out a solution that should be acceptable to France. Now, the question is whether the other member states will agree to it.

Journalists report that there could be an alleged partial concession to Germany regarding the origin of weapons components.

As was reported earlier, Paris wants the entire supply chain to be tied to EU countries, as it would be very profitable for the French defense industry. At the same time, the German defense industry imports some necessary components from Britain, which is no longer a member of the EU. If the approach France is pushing for is approved, those companies would not be eligible for the contract.

On the other hand, Poland will insist that the adopted decision ensures the fastest possible supply of the necessary ammunition to Ukraine.

Some officials previously assumed that an agreement would be reached in mid-April, but these hopes turned out to be in vain.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba expressed his disappointment that this critical EU decision is still being delayed.
