Russia attacks Ukraine with 26 Iranian-made drones by night
On the night of May 3, Russia attacked Ukrainian regions far back from the front line for the third time in six days, targeting civilian areas.
This time, the Russia invaders launched up to 26 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones.
Rubryka reports, citing the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that Ukrainian air defense destroyed 21 drones.
On Wednesday night, Russian attacks were reported by residents of the Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions in Ukraine's center, Zaporizhzhia region, and Dnipropetrovsk regions in the southeast.
Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that air defense was activated in Kyiv, downing all the targets around the capital.
"The operational report of now is no victims and destruction. The information is being clarified," said the head of the administration, Serhii Popko.
The Air Force reported that the Russia invaders launched drones from the northern direction (Russia's Bryansk oblast) and the south, the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov. The Air Force added that air defense destroyed Russian targets with anti-aircraft missile weapons, aviation, and mobile fire groups in the areas of responsibility of the Center, East, and South air commands.
One Russian kamikaze drone still reached the target and damaged the administrative building in Dnipro, Dnipropetrovsk region. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhii Lysak, said that a fire broke out at the site of the strike, but the fire has already been extinguished. In just one night, defenders from the East air command shot down seven drones over the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The head of the region added that the city's residents were not injured. Rescuers are still working at the site, and the consequences of the attack are being clarified.
Three Iranian-made drones attacked an oil depot In Kropyvnytskyi. No one was injured. The rescuers are working at the scene. Another Russian attack killed a 31-year-old mother and two-year-old daughter in Dnipro.
On the night of May 1, Russian troops massively bombarded Ukraine, firing 18 cruise missiles (X-101/X-555), of which Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 15.
