Germany will supply Ukraine with ammunition for its Gepard anti-aircraft guns by August – Scholz
Ukraine can expect to receive ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns in August.
Germany has already handed over a dozen of them to Ukraine's forces, DW reports.
According to the German government official, production is now being adjusted, but it will take some time.
At the same time, Scholz emphasized that Ukraine should not strike Russian territory with weapons supplied to it by Germany. The Chancellor considers it necessary to prevent a war between the Russian Federation and NATO.
These rules are followed by other Western countries that supply Ukraine with weapons to counter the Russian attack, the chancellor explained and added that with all the necessary help, everything should be done to prevent a war between Russia and NATO, DW noted.
Ukraine will receive 15 anti-aircraft Gepard tanks from Germany in July, a German Defense Ministry spokesperson said.
Included with the arms delivery will be training support by the German Armed Forces and the provision of nearly 60,000 rounds of ammunition.
Gepard vehicles can see targets at night thanks to their radar. To destroy the Shahed-136 and Shahed-131 drones, this equipment needs to release only a small burst of ammunition.
