Russian forces leave some positions in Bakhmut as Ukrainian units counterattack
Ukrainian defense forces made Russians leave some occupied positions with their counterattacks in Bakhmut, the Ground Force commander Oleksandr Syrsky says.
On April 30, the commander visited several directions in the areas of hostilities. He presented awards and valuable gifts to the defenders of Bakhmut, who distinguished themselves in the battles.
Ukrainian defenders have repelled numerous assaults in the Lyman direction over the past few days. The enemy's attempts to capture Ukrainian positions were unsuccessful. He suffered losses as 10 troops were captured.
Intensive combat operations continue on the Bakhmut front, but Russians have not succeeded in breaking through the defence of Ukrainian positions. But the enemy is unable to take the city under control, Syrsky said.
To advance, the enemy uses maximum effort and does not care about anything. Despite significant losses, new assault groups of Wagner, fighters of other private companies, and paratroopers are constantly rushing into battle.
The situation is quite complicated. At the same time, the enemy was counterattacked by our units and left some positions in some parts of the city, he noted.
