Germany confirms transfer of second Iris-T air defense system to Ukraine
Germany has confirmed the delivery of the second Iris-T air defense system to Ukraine.
Among the new deliveries are Iris-T SLM air defense system, eight more Zetros trucks (a total of 84 have already been delivered).
Germany sent two trucks 8×6 with eight roll-off containers, Federal Government of Germany says.
All equipment is transferred directly from the manufacturers.
The Iris-T SLM is the newest system, which is not currently even in service with the Bundeswehr. The first one was handed over last autumn: two more are expected to be handed over as soon as they are produced.
The Iris-T SLM anti-aircraft complex consists of three machines:
- a launch pad on a military truck with space for eight missiles,
- radar machine,
- main car.
Anti-aircraft missiles can hit targets at an altitude of up to 20 kilometers and at a distance of up to 40 kilometers.
